Club News

11 Oct - Wow, a long time since I've updated the "club news".  Please refer to the meeting minutes for a good summary of what's been happening.  In a nutshell, two HF stations are up and operating, we've got two computers, the 9/11 special event station was a success, the log shows lots of activity, we're operating in digital modes . . . the list goes on.  Bottom line is that the club is active  -- if you're eligible to join, please check us out.  If you're out there on the ham bands, keep listening for K4AF!

29 Jan - The website is back in business and I'm updating again.  We've been assured that the club station can remain in its current location for the foreseeable future.  We're working with the Pentagon Renovation team to secure a new location in the renovated area of the building when the current room has to be cleared out for the project.  Also, work is progressing on a new beam.  Activity has increased and K4AF is on the air almost daily!

7 Aug - Gene applied to make K4AF an official part of the 9/11 commemoration at the Pentagon. From the application: "The Pentagon Radio Amateur Club (PARC) plans to activate a special event station commemorating the attack on the Pentagon. Mrs. Deanna Lutz, organizer of the first special event station, will participate in this year’s event. The purpose the event is to solicit donations from Amateur Radio operators and clubs on behalf of the Pentagon Memorial Fund. "

6 Aug - Eric reports: Great News! It appears that the antenna is aok :-) I checked the signal with two buddies of mine. One about 2 hrs S/SE of here on 40m CW. The other in northwestern Indiana on 30m CW. My friend in Indiana said there seemed to be a little bit of a chirp in the signal. Turning the power down did not seem to affect it. Last night I also worked (20m CW): a) UA0AZ Alex in Krasnoyarsk, Russia b) ZP6CW in Paraguay

3 Aug - Doug, Gene, & Paul installed the Hy Gain vertical antenna on the club's existing mast. Antenna loads up -- and we're ready for action!
