Annual "Bring Your Child to Work Day"

Pentagon Courtyard

Thanks to the radio operators from the Pentagon MARS station who set up field antennas, conducted portable radio operations, and mentored children in the art and skill of radio.

Voice and digital radio operations were conducted from the Pentagon Courtyard using portable operating gear including two HF radios, a VHF/UHF radio, and a laptop computer for digital operations.

Wire antennas were hung from trees, including a HF inverted vee antenna and a HF 73-foot sloper wire antenna. A HF 17-foot vertical whip antenna and a VHF/UHF antenna were erected in the grassy area of the courtyard.

HF radio contacts were made with military and amateur stations located around the United States in addition to sending and receiving email messages over radio via Winlink.
